One medical group is focusing on young men.

The Society of Dermatologic Surgeons has released public service announcements called "Guys, Don't be like Paul" to show the skin-care blunders men often make.

The central character shrugs off his doctor's advice only to learn he has melanoma.

Skin experts say parents who insist on sunscreen for young children should reinforce the message for older ones, too - especially boys.

"If you wouldn't let your kids smoke in 8th grade you should be just as careful with sun exposure as well," Dr. Brian Gastman said.

And skin cancer prevention for all teenagers isn't just an outdoor issue.

It goes for indoor tanning, as well.

Tanning beds are believed to contribute to the rise of melanoma among young women.
