Local residents concerned after receiving hate-filled flyers in their mailboxes: Walter Perez reports on Action News at 5 p.m., October 11, 2017 (WPVI)

Residents from one local area were shocked and horrified to find hand-drawn flyers depicting offensive content in their mailboxes.

Hundreds across neighborhoods in Bucks and Montgomery counties report that these flyers have been showing up in their mailboxes over the course of the past year.

"It's pretty disturbing," said Felicia Zimmerman of Red Hill.

Zimmerman received one of these said flyers, some of which are festooned with racist and anti-Semitic images, coupled with white nationalist messages and quotes from Nazi Germany.

Zimmerman said she finds it hard to believe that anyone would pour so much time and so many resources into something like this.

"It's all handwritten and stamped," she said. "Somebody spent a lot of money to get this out to the community and I think we're all just shocked."

Even more shocking is that some of the envelopes were personalized. For example, David Housel is a Kansas City Chiefs fan and proudly hangs this flag on his front lawn.

When a flyer arrived in his mailbox, it was addressed to the "Kansas City Chiefs Fan."

"That's freaking me out than the letter itself," said Housel. "That they came around and scoped out our neighborhood."

As chance would have it, 6abc was there when Doug Bishop, owner of Mario's Cafe and Pizza in Greenville, received a flyer.

"This is not right, it's not the way it should be," Bishop said. "There is no place for that in our community."

East Greenville Police Chief Andrew Skelton said anyone with concerns or questions about this case should feel free to contact the department. But Skelton also warns that while the flyers might be upsetting, they are protected under the First Amendment.
