Local woman among the victims in acid attack in France. Sarah Bloomquist reports during Action News at 11 p.m. on September 17, 2017.

A local woman was among four American students attacked with acid Sunday in France.

Courtney Siverling, from Chester Springs, is a junior at Boston College, who is studying abroad.

The attack happened at a train station in Marseille.

Investigators say a woman sprayed the victims in the face with acid.

The students, all of whom are female, have been treated at the hospital and released for minor burns.

The suspect is a 41-year-old French woman who police describe as "disturbed".

Two women who posted late Sunday on Facebook asked for prayers for the assailant. One of the women, Michelle Krug, said she was one of two who got hit in the eye with "a weak solution of hydrochloric acid," but added that "mental illness is not a choice and should not be villainized."

They do not believe the incident was related to terrorism.
