NETHERLANDS -- One of the largest fast food chains in the world is going where no man or restaurant has gone before. McDonald's just debuted the world's first scented billboard, and it's getting a lot of attention!

McDonald's restaurants in the Netherlands just revealed this new aromatic advertising strategy to turn consumers on to their iconic burgers and fries by allowing people to simply walk up to this ground-level billboard and smell their food.

The company's chief marketing officer says quote "Smell has been proven to be more effective at sparking clear and emotional memories, than images."

Mcdonald's installed a tray of fries into the billboard then uses ventilators to suck and diffuse the scent of its fan favorite: the golden fries!

And the feedback was spot on! People who walked by and put their noses to the billboard said it smells just like the fries!

The billboards are also strategically placed within 2,000 feet of a McDonald's restaurant so customers can follow the scent trail.
