NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police from Upper Merion and Philadelphia have cleared out a house that was allegedly a stash house for stolen goods.

On Friday, they were hauling items away from the scene by the truckload.

Only Action News was there Friday morning as police emptied out 2415 Opal Street in North Philadelphia.

In bucket brigade fashion, authorities brought out a steady stream of allegedly stolen goods. Boxes of toys, bags of clothing, small electronics, plumbing items - including a new hot water heater still in the box - and two ornate crystal lamps.

"They run the gamut. If these individuals could get their hands on it, they took it," said Sgt. Brendan Brazunas of the Upper Merion Police Dept.

Out of a 1,100 square foot row home came three truck loads of stuff valued in excess of $125,000.

While Philadelphia Police provided manpower, the investigation is headed by Upper Merion Police. Many of the items were allegedly taken from stores in King of Prussia and beyond.

"Various stores all over the region, extending up into north Jersey and south into Virginia," Brazunas said.

Also under investigation: if the alleged stolen items were sold out of the house.

After the police departed, several people went into 2415. None of them would comment about the accusation that the house had been packed with stolen goods from a retail theft ring.

Police says they have suspects and arrests are expected.
