Police say drugs appear to be the motive for a deadly double shooting in Philadelphia's Lawncrest neighborhood.

LAWNCREST (WPVI) -- Police say a deadly double shooting in Philadelphia's Lawncrest neighborhood may be drug related.

A 20-year-old gunshot victim was found around 11 p.m. Wednesday on the 500 block of East Cheltenham Avenue.

He had cash on him, and what appears to be marijuana.

He was suffering from a wound to his back. Medics took him to Einstein Medical Center in stable condition.

The victim told police, he and his friend were walking when a male standing at the intersection of Colgate and Cheltenham avenues began firing at them.

He said he fled east on Cheltenham, north on Bingham, and then west on Alcott Street.

He says the shooter caught up with him and allegedly shot him in the back.

The second male in his 20s, was found two blocks away along East Cheltenham Avenue.

He was shot to death on the sidewalk. There was a weapon by his side.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said, "We're not certain at this time whether the homicide victim fired shots, or was in possession of the weapon."

Police found seven spent shell casings at the shooting scene.

They are reviewing surveillance cameras in the 500 block of Cheltenham Avenue to determine exactly what sparked the shootings.

So far, no arrests or word on a motive.
