A crash in West Philadelphia has left a driver critically injured.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A crash in West Philadelphia has left a driver critically injured.

It happened around 3:40 a.m. Sunday on the 4800 block of Haverford Avenue.

Police say the driver lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a utility pole.

It took more than 30 minutes for firefighters to free the driver.

He was taken to Hahnemann University Hospital in critical condition.

Investigators are trying to determine what caused the driver to veer off the street.
