An off-duty police officer and a civilian were injured after a fire broke out at a restaurant in North Philadelphia.

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- An off-duty police officer and a civilian were injured after a fire broke out at a restaurant in North Philadelphia.

The fire broke out around 6 p.m. Sunday in a three-story building at 5th and Cumberland streets.

Officials are investigating a restaurant fire that left one person injured in North Philadelphia.

Upon arrival, officials said fire was showing at a restaurant on the first floor with apartments on the second and third floors.

The fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes, officials said.

The injured were taken to Temple University Hospital for smoke inhalation.
