Police say a driver lost control and slammed a car into an abandoned hardware store in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police say a driver lost control and slammed a car into an abandoned hardware store in West Philadelphia.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Saturday on the 400 block of South 60th Street.

The driver, police say, ran off the road and rolled onto its side, striking a parked trailer and car before getting wedged into the building.

The impact of the crash caused some structural damage to the building.

Police say the driver managed to get out of the car, and then fled the scene.

Inspectors from License and Inspection have been notified to determine the stability of the building.

Police are searching for the driver.
