A township worker jumped into the Delaware River and pulled a woman to safety after her car drove into the water in Bucks County.

MORRISVILLE, Pa. (WPVI) -- A township worker jumped into the Delaware River and pulled a woman to safety after her car drove into the water in Bucks County.

The incident happened at 11:37 a.m. Thursday at East Ferry and River roads in Morrisville.

Authorities say a water treatment plant worker observed the black Honda Accord enter the river. He then immediately jumped into the river and successfully removed the woman inside the vehicle and brought her to shore.

The incident was reported before 12 p.m. Thursday at Ferry and River Roads in Morrisville.

Arriving police officers say the vehicle was submerged up to the door handles, approximately 15-20 feet into the river.

The victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
