NORTHEAST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A man seen running in his underwear on Roosevelt Boulevard in Northeast Philadelphia has died after being struck multiple times.

It happened shortly after 8:00 p.m. Monday along the 6600 block of Roosevelt Boulevard near Harbison Avenue.

A man was struck on Roosevelt Boulevard.

Police say the man, believed to be in his late 20s to early 30s, was running in the outer lanes of the Boulevard in his underwear and singing when he was struck by a Chevy Tahoe.

The impact sent the man airborne into the inner lanes of the Boulevard.

Police say he was then struck by at least two more vehicles.

"From witnesses, as well as the drivers, our male who was struck by the vehicle was running in the southbound lanes waving his hands in the air and singing, just wearing his underwear, which is very unusual for the winter...from witnesses he was singing loudly," Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said.

The victim was taken to Aria Health Torresdale where he later died.

The initial striking vehicle and another vehicle remained at the scene.

Police continue to investigate.
