Students from Drexel's Food Lab tested their culinary skills Friday (WPVI)

Students from Drexel's Food Lab tested their culinary skills Friday.

They participated in a cooking competition while trying to combat food waste.

The students had to make a meal using a new flour made up of vegetable by-product, the part that would have been thrown away.

Dana Bloom had the winning recipe, fried chicken and biscuits, they will be served at the Philly Chef Conference at Drexel next month.
