"I heard it was fun, I had seen it on Snap Chat and I wanted to go," said party goer Jasmine Kinsey.

When you attend a Silent Philly party you are given a pair of headphones at the door. Each one has three channels that are color coded. Each channel represents a different type of music. Green plays Top 40, Red plays 80's-90's and 2000's, and Blue is hip-hop.

"It is kind of quiet when you walk in, but the second you put your headphones on, you're zoned in," said party goer Harpreet Kaur.

Silent Philly president Eddie Ross says the expanded playlist is what sells the party.

"If you come out with a diverse group of friends, everyone can hear what they want, everyone is happy in one place," Ross said.

As far as socializing at a Silent Philly event, simply remove your headphones.

"The great thing is when you take them off there's no pounding music overhead, so you can actually hear someone," Ross said.

Party-goers say it's easy to get immersed in the music and sometimes forget they are singing out loud.

"Before you know it, you're singing at the top of your lungs," said Ross.

"I forget that people can actually hear me singing it's a cappella to them but I mean I don't care," said Kinsey.

Silent Philly has a number of scheduled events coming up, you can find a list of those here. Ticket prices range between $10 and $20 depending on if you buy during the pre-sale or at the door.

And if you've been thinking through this whole time about germs, Silent Phillysays each pair of headphones is sanitized before and after each event.
