Philadelphia police took a man into custody for allegedly starting a fire in West Kensington.

WEST KENSINGTON (WPVI) -- Philadelphia police took a man into custody for allegedly starting a fire in West Kensington.

Firefighters were called just after 11 p.m. Saturday to a home on the 3100 block of Custer Street.

Police say the man started the fire by lighting up curtains.

The fire caused heavy damage to the home.

Officials say all residents inside were able to get out safely.
