VILLANOVA, Pa. (WPVI) -- The Villanova Wildcats got an enthusiastic send-off from Nova Nation on Tuesday morning as they boarded the bus, headed to their first Sweet 16 since 2009!
Students, alumni and local families filled out the crowd as couch Jay Wright prepared for Louisville.
Nova is coming off two huge wins in the opening rounds of the NCAA tournament. Sunday's win against Iowa got them here.
If they win two games in Louisville, Kentucky - they head to the Final Four!
The team's momentum is getting fans hopes up that they could win it all like they did back in 1985.
"My parents went here in '85 when we won the whole thing, and I've been a fan since I was in diapers. So a big decision coming to Villanova, a lot of it was based on basketball," said sophomore Scott Dunleavy.
With Temple and St. Joe's out, Villanova is representing the Philadelphia area. Coach Jay Wright took a moment to thank his loyal followers.
"I want to thank everybody for their support, sticking with us through the years and all through this season. We take great pride in representing Philadelphia basketball. We're going to play hard like the city of Philadelphia and like Villanova basketball always does," he said.
