Man murdered in North Philadelphia vacant lot ID'd

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The man who was shot and killed and left lying in a vacant lot in North Philadelphia has been identified.

Officers responded around 12:50 a.m. Saturday to the 1500 block of North 19th Street.

They discovered 42-year-old Edward Jefferson suffering with a gunshot wound to the chest.

Police took him to Hahnemann University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

So far, no word on any suspects or a motive.
