MARYSVILLE, Wash. (WPVI) --A woman's potato chip habit may not do much for her waistline, but it inadvertently saved her life.
After a sharp ridge on a chip poked Kristine Moore in the throat, she went to a doctor to get her red, swollen tonsils checked out.
After some tests, and a biopsy, doctors discovered a cancerous tumor on one tonsil.
"The potato chip was a blessing in disguise," said Kristine Moore. "I probably wouldn't have found out for another year."
Moore has gotten treatment and is fine now.
Her husband called the chip maker, which sent her T-shirts, a lunch bag, coupons and get well wishes.
Moore believes the cancer was from smoking, a habit she's given up.
But she's not giving up potato chips.
