A new study suggests that long-term use of common heartburn medications could cause serious kidney damage.

Researchers believe one specific class of drugs can increase the risk of kidney disease, and failure.

That includes popular brands like Prilosec, Nexium, and Prevacid, which are all available over the counter.

The results back up another recent study which was published earlier this year.

The experts suggest talking to your doctor about the risks and avoiding the medication unless you really need it.
