You've surely heard of maternity leave - but how about me-ternity?

You've surely heard of maternity leave - but how about me-ternity?

A female author has caused quite a stir on social media after stating that even if you don't have kids, you deserve to take what she calls 'a break.'

Meghann Foye has coined that time off: me-ternity.

She says she was burned out and, unlike many women in her office who got pregnant and went on maternity leave, she's never had a chance take time off for herself.

In her article for the New York Post, she says parenthood seems to be the only way to get set time away from the office.

So she took it for herself!

But moms have been outraged on social media, saying maternity leave is hardly a break or a retreat and that the idea that it provides any "me" time is a joke.

Some have even offered Foye a chance to come change some diapers and do overnight feedings.
