An alert neighbor is being credited with helping firefighters contained a Burlington County townhouse fire before anyone was hurt.

EVESHAM TWP., N.J. (WPVI) -- An alert neighbor is being credited with helping firefighters contain a Burlington County townhouse fire.

Action News is told the woman called firefighters from the unit block of Queen Anne Court just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday.

The burning home belonged to a family who is out of town for the weekend.

Their pet dog, unfortunately, did not make it out in time.

The fast-moving fire caused smoke and damage to adjoining townhomes.

Police were able to safely evacuate those residents.

A cause has not been determined.
