VILLANOVA (WPVI) -- Villanova University is the first college to sign on for a new program designed to increase awareness of sexual violence on college campuses.

The "It's On Us" initiative was announced by Gov. Tom Wolf on Wednesday.

It's designed to improve awareness, prevention and reporting of sexual violence.

Wolf says that more than 800 people have taken the pledge, and that includes 200 colleges, universities and school districts.

The first school to sign the pledge was Villanova University.

"It is on all of us at Villanova - Administrators, coaches, students, all of us, to prevent sexual violence and to create a society that's safe and enjoyed by everyone," said head basketball coach Jay Wright.

Roundtable discussions have been held across the state to discuss ideas about how to create a safer learning environment.
