Man charged in hit-and-run of off-duty SEPTA officer

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The driver who hit an off-duty SEPTA police officer late last month is now behind bars.

34-year-old Jeffrey Soder was arrested Wednesday.

Investigators say Soder was driving under the influence when he hit Gary Miller from behind.

Miller had been running along the 7600 block of Rowland Avenue in Holmesburg.

He suffered two broken legs and a concussion.

Police say Soder fled the scene.

He is charged with Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Assault While D.U.I., Accident Involving Injury No License, Leaving the Scene of a Crash with Injuries, D.U.I., Simple Assault, and related offenses.
