Police investigate suspicious death in Parkside

PARKSIDE (WPVI) -- Police are working to determine how a 35-year-old man died in the Parkside section of Philadelphia.

The incident happened after 1:30 a.m. Thursday in the 4900 block of West Thompson Street.

Police say residents called them after hearing a fight.

Officers arrived to find a man lying in the street with a serious head injury.

Medics were called. They pronounced the man dead at 1:47 a.m.

Police say they found a silver wrench near the victim.

Homicide detectives are working to determine who killed the man and why.
