Police say gunfire erupted before 12 a.m. Monday at a house near West Broad and Pine streets.

PAULSBORO, N.J. (WPVI) -- Police have made an arrest after a man was shot and killed in Paulsboro, New Jersey.

Darnell L. Samuels, 33, of Pennsville, N.J. surrendered on Tuesday, the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office said.

John Gardner, 24, was shot and killed around 11 p.m. on Monday, June 20th.

Officers arrived to find Gardner suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Medics rushed him to Inspiria Hospital in Woodbury. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Samuels is charged with murder and is being held on $1 million bail.

The prosecutor notes that Samuels' surrender comes on the same day as Gardner's funeral.
