PENNSVILLE, N.J. (WPVI) --A Salem County man is accused of murdering his wife after an argument, and police say the crime happened with the couple's three children in the house.
Pennsville police say 46-year-old Mitin Singh stabbed his wife, Seema, multiple times with a knife. He is charged with murder.
His bond is set at $1 million.
Officers responded to the 100 block of North Broadway around 5:30 a.m. Tuesday for a person in respiratory distress.
The cops thought they would find someone in cardiac arrest. Instead, they found Singh covered in blood and his 42-year-old wife on the kitchen floor.
"The husband was standing in the kitchen. His comment was basically 'we got into a fight,'" Pennsville Police Chief Allen Cummings said.
Police say their three young kids were asleep inside the apartment.
Singh owns the building as well as a deli in Collingswood.
Tess McCrindle of Collingswoods works at the barbershop across the street from the deli has known Seema for years.
McCrindle says Mrs. Singh did not deserve what happened to her.
"Whenever I didn't have enough change she would just be say, 'go ahead,'" McCrindle said.
Action News is told the children are staying with a member of the family's church.
