WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Wilmington stores that sell alcohol could extend their hours of operation on Sundays if a new ordinance is passed.

The News Journal reports that the Wilmington City Council is considering an ordinance that would allow liquor vendors to open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sundays from October to December. For the remaining months of the year, stores would be allowed to open on Sundays from noon until 5 p.m.

Wilmington liquor vendors are currently limited to operate from noon to 4 p.m. on Sundays.

Councilman Charles "Bud" Freel says store owners are losing business because of the current regulations. He says that if the ordinance is approved, the new rules could go into effect in November.
