Police are investigating a motorcycle crash which seriously injured two people in Newark, Delaware.
It happened around 2:13 p.m. Tuesday on eastbound Ogletown Road (DE Route 273) in the area of Bala Road.
Police say 19-year-old David Reed was operating a Harley Davidson X8N traveling westbound. The bike failed to make a curve in the road, causing the bike to travel across the grass median before striking a concrete median.
Reed, along with an 18-year-old female passenger, and the bike all became airborne across the intersection before landing in the grassy median west of the intersection and on the eastbound side.
Both victims were treated at the scene and then taken to Christiana Hospital.
Reed suffered serious life-threatening injuries. His passenger has serious, but non-life threatening injures.
Police say neither of the victims were wearing a helmet.
It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a part in the crash, but speed does not appear to be a factor, police say.
The road was closed for two hours while police investigated.
