A firefighter was injured battling a house fire in Chester, Pennsylvania.

CHESTER, Pa. (WPVI) -- A firefighter was injured battling a house fire in Chester, Pennsylvania.

Nearby neighbors reported the fire around 8 p.m. Sunday along the 600 block of East 22nd Street.

Officials say firefighters arrived to find heavy black smoke pouring out from inside.

Action News has learned one firefighter became trapped in the basement.

He was rescued, and taken to Crozer-Chester Medical Center.

No word on how badly he is hurt at this time.

No further injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
