CHERRY HILL, N.J. (WPVI) -- Students at Cherry Hill East High School are upset about plans to censor the spring musical "Ragtime."

They gathered at Tuesday night's Board of Education meeting to voice their concerns.

More than 1,500 people have signed a petition saying the racial slurs in the musical should be used since they convey the atrocities of the time.

The school board says it is consulting with the company that licenses "Ragtime" to see about its options.
