Suspect injures employee during armed robbery in SW Philadelphia

SOUTHWEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police have released a surveillance video of an armed robbery that took place inside a Southwest Philadelphia business.

They are asking the public's help in identifying the suspect seen in the above video.

It happened around 5:30 p.m. Thursday at the Gold Star Alterations on the 6300 block of Elmwood Avenue.

Police say the female employee was getting ready to close when the armed suspect entered.

The man is seen hitting her repeatedly with the gun and then running off with cash from the register.

The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
