Some dogs from Asia made a roughly 9,000 mile journey and will now call the Delaware Valley their new home.

The Providence Animal Shelter in Media, Pa. welcomed rescue dogs from Thailand on Saturday night.

The dogs had been living on the streets, often starved and - in some cases - tortured.

Rescue Dogs Thailand reached out to the shelter in Media, in hopes of giving the dogs a better life.

"These dogs came from a shelter there. They had no way out and, because we are a life-saving organization and can open our doors to helping those most in need, we were able to do that," said Caroline Muller.

The shelter says the dogs will be put up for adoption starting Monday morning.
