President Donald Trump has run into another health care-related problem on Capitol Hill, this time on the research side.
The fight brewing is over federal funding for bio-medical research at the National Institutes of Health.
The White House wants to cut it by 18 percent. Lawmakers in both parties are opposed to that, saying the NIH is just getting to funding levels it needs.
The move comes just 4 months after the signing of the 21st Century Cures Act, which was passed almost unanimously.
It put 5 billion dollars into research, not just for the NIH but for universities and medical centers nationwide.
Supporters say big cuts could dramatically slow down advances in medicine.
