To Your Health: Alzheimer's, race recovery and more!
Ali Gorman has new research on Alzheimer's Disease, tips on recovering from running races and more!

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- The FDA has approved a new treatment for patients with an aggressive form of leukemia.

The new treatment is a combination of the drug, Rydapt and chemotherapy.

It can be used in adults with acute myeloid leukemia, which is a rare blood cancer.

In a study, Rydapt combined with chemotherapy extended the time before the leukemia worsened or the patient died compared to chemotherapy alone.

A new study says your risk of developing dementia is tied to your relationships with family.

Researchers in the United Kingdom tracked 10,000 older adults over a decade.

Those who maintained positive relationships with their adult children had a 17-percent lower risk of dementia.

Those with negative relationships, filled with things like arguments and criticism, faced a higher risk.

More research needs to be done to figure out why.

And now for today's tip: If you were one of the tens of thousands of people running the Broad Street Run over the weekend, here's some things to help you recover after a long race.

First, re-hydrate. Make sure to drink water and sports drink after the race.

Second, keep moving. Walk and stretch after the race and then keep moving the next few days.

And finally, get a good night's rest. Your body recovers best while you sleep.
