2 hospitalized in Wilmington apartment fire

WILMINGTON, Del. (WPVI) -- Two people were hospitalized after a fire an apartment fire in Wilmington, Delaware.

It happened around 5:00 p.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of North Scott Street.

Crews arrived to find smoke coming from the two-story dwelling.

There's a beauty salon on the first floor and there are apartments in the upper floors.

Two people were rescued from the second floor of the building.

A man in his 40s, from one of the apartments, was found suffering from significant smoke inhalation. He was taken to Christiana Hospital in critical condition and was reportedly transferred to a regional burn unit for treatment.

The second victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. At last check, that person was listed in stable condition.

Everyone inside the salon managed to make it out safely.

The fire damage was confined to the bedroom of the apartment where the blaze started.

No word yet what sparked the fire.
