Police are investigating a shooting that left two men wounded in West Philadelphia.

WEST PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Police are investigating a shooting that left two men wounded during an attempted robbery in West Philadelphia.

The shooting happened around 11:45 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of 54th and Walnut streets.

Both victims who are 20-years-old were walking home when three males approached them and announced a robbery.

They say one of the suspects asked them for the time while the other two pulled out guns.

The victims then fled in the opposite directions while the suspects allegedly fired shots.

Officers found the first victim lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the leg.

The second victim was shot in the finger.

Both men were rushed to Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.

Police found 6 shell casings at the scene from two different caliber weapons.

All three suspects are described as black males. Two between the ages of 20-22-years old. The third suspect appeared younger.

The first suspect is about 5"7" tall, thin build and dark complexion. The second suspect is 5'9" tall and also thin build and dark complexion.

They were both wearing a dark hoody, blue or black jeans and armed with a black gun.

The third suspect is only described as wearing a black hoody and younger than the other suspects.

Investigators are hoping the surveillance cameras in the area will provide more clues.
