OCEAN CITY, N.J. (WPVI) -- With Memorial Day weekend approaching, beach businesses are busy getting ready for all the visitors.

"It's going to start to get very busy. We're looking forward to all the crowds coming down and we're glad the weather's getting better," said Karen Becker of Colette's Boutique in Ocean City.

Everywhere you look, there are workers putting on a fresh coat of paint, scrubbing windows or cleaning up behind the counter.

That's what they were doing at the Curly's Fries stand on the boardwalk.

"Last weekend was very good for Mother's Day, and we are getting ready for the summer," said Norman Lawland.

"It's gorgeous, and you see everybody's getting ready, and we are already in town," said Kathy Cusak of Somers Point. "It's just perfect down here."

They catch your eye with the outdoor display at Island Beach Gear on Ninth Street. Inside, the floor is full with everything you could ever need at the beach - and there's still more merchandise coming.

"If you were looking for something different we probably have it. We bring in all the new games, any kind of towel you can imagine," said Yvonne Miller.

Kara Carr - the mom of twins Eliza and Lily - can use one of those towels at the beach, but it's likely she's already packed two or three or four towels.

"You have to be prepared when you come to the beach with twins so we have everything but the kitchen sink.

There were plenty of people on the beach Tuesday kicking off their summer season early.

A day like this at the shore is it tease for what's coming this summer.

"It's beautiful weather, the girls had off from school today, so just coming down to check out the beach and enjoy it," said Chrissy Doorly of Exton, Pa.
