LAWNCREST (WPVI) -- Police have identified the 16-year-old boy killed after the dirt bike he was riding crashed head-on with an SUV in the Lawncrest section of Philadelphia.

It happened at 10:17 p.m. Tuesday at Devereaux Street and Tabor Avenue.

Police say Mangual was speeding east on Devereaux when he ran a red light, slamming into a silver 2013 Infiniti SUV.

The driver of the SUV stopped nearby.

Mangual, who, police say, was not wearing a helmet and whose green 2007 Kawasaki motorcycle was not registered for street driving, was thrown from the bike and landed on the sidewalk.

Medics rushed him to Einstein Medical Center in critical condition.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Police say the boy had seen driving recklessly in the area earlier Tuesday evening.

The incident remains under investigation.
