To protect and serve ice cream

UPPER DARBY, Pa. (WPVI) -- 50 children received a special reward Wednesday from their town's top cop.

Upper Darby Police Chief Mike Chitwood ordered Mister Softee to make a stop at Stonehurst Elementary.

The department treated the top ten students from each fifth grade class to free ice cream.

This was a year end surprise for the kids who are part of a mentoring program with the Upper Darby officers.
