Free BankWorks classes

NORTH PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- A free, bank career training program is coming to Philadelphia.

Representatives with the Philadelphia O.I.C. and other city leaders announced a new partnership with BankWorks Thursday.

It trains young adults from low income and minority communities for lasting careers in the financial services industry.

The BankWorks classes are free for participants.

The program was started in 2006 in Los Angeles and spread to other cities.

So far, it has helped more than 1,400 graduates get a job at banks and other financial institutions.
