CENTER CITY (WPVI) -- The humidity and heat got an early start Thursday, and temperatures quickly climbed.

"It's a little muggy, of course," said Anthony Pike of Olney. "Humid, I guess you could say. Sun's not all of the way out. Little cloudy."

"Right now it's not too bad, but it's going to get hot," said Stace Burlney of Crescentville.

Coping with the excessive heat: Jeannette Reyes reports during Action News at noon on July 13, 2017.

The usual but still very important advice on hydration was being shared by just about everyone we ran into at the Broad and Olney Transportation Center in Logan.

"It's going to get extremely hot today, so let's try to drink a lot of water lot of fluids and make sure you stay under air," said Leon Bibbs of Center City Philadelphia.

Landscaper Kevin Brown was under the scorching sun at Logan Square.

One man who asked to remain anonymous had the homeless lining up for food and water.

And just across the way, parents found a way to keep the kids busy and cooled off.
