Mother charged with endangerment after child dies. Walter Perez reports during Action News at 5 p.m. on July 19, 2017.

Police are piecing together information about the death of a young girl in Camden. Her mother has been arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Four-year-old Natalise Gunter was rushed to Cooper Hospital Tuesday morning, where she was pronounced dead a short time later. The youngster's lifeless body was found inside her home with severe injuries to her face.

Investigators questioned the adults who live in the home. Twenty-year-old Lucy Gunter has been accused of failing to seek medical attention for her daughter.

"It was a horrific scene out there, it was horrible," said Crystal Thomas about the death of her neighbor.

Sources tell Action News this is being treated as a homicide investigation, but so far no one has been charged with murder.

Thomas says she was outside when the little girl's body was removed from the home. She says it's an image she will never forget.

"It still hurts to even think about it," she said. "Last night, I couldn't even sleep thinking about the baby all night long."

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Camden County Prosecutor's Office.
