NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Delaware-based student loan provider, Sallie Mae wants to use a taxpayer grant to hire Barclays and H.S.B.C. workers who will soon be laid off.
Sallie Mae has requested more than 2 million dollars to hire 285 of the 600 employees let go by the two financial service companies.
The taxpayer grant would be used by Sallie Mae to offset the salaries of the new employees.
The state Council On Development Finance will vote on the request on August 28th.
