Roomba CEO wants to sell mapping data collected by vacuums
Roomba CEO wants to sell mapping data collected by vacuums: Alicia Vitarelli reports during Action News at 4:30 p.m. on July 25, 2017.

If you own a Roomba, it turns out your little robotic vacuum cleaner is scooping up more than one kind of dirt.

As part of the way it navigates, your Roomba already maps your home.

Now, the CEO plans to sell that map. That information could be vital to companies like Google, Amazon, or Apple who could use it to try to sell you things or the latest "smart" services.

The idea of devices spying on us is not new, but apparently mapping is the next big way for "smart" tech companies to make a profit.

You should know, your Roomba won't sell your data without permission.
