3 charged in Phila. speakeasy raids

PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) -- Three men have been arrested in connection with the operation of illegal speakeasies in Philadelphia, police say.

Police served search warrants on Wednesday at Cafe Italia located at 1424 Snyder Avenue and Mediterranean's of South Philly located at 1426 McKean Street.

As a result, three men were arrested and charged.

69-year-old Tonino Irace of Glendolden and 66-year-old Canio Pascale of Philadelphia are charged with illegal liquor sales and criminal conspiracy.

44-year-old Zoheir Mouloudj of Philadelphia was charged with illegal liquor sales.

Police confiscated $584 in cash, 129 bottles of beer/liquor, a cash register and various other items from Cafe Italia.

They confiscated $17,528 in cash, 181 bottles of beer/liquor, a cash register and various other items from Mediterranean's of South Philly.
