LOGAN (WPVI) -- Three people are in police custody following a shooting and standoff in Philadelphia's Logan section.
The shooting happened shortly before noon Monday on the 5800 block of Old York Road, right in front of Precious Babies Learning Academy.
Police say a 29-year-old man was shot five times, as some of the kids were outside taking a walk.
The victim sustained wounds to his neck, chest and stomach. He is now hospitalized in critical condition and is allegedly not cooperating with police.
The day care was told to shelter in place while police investigated the incident.
Detectives say the suspect fled around the corner to a home on the 1400 block of Conlyn Street. Police declared a barricade situation.
Neighbors were asked to leave as a SWAT team moved into position.
About 30 minutes later, three men were taken into custody from the home. They were loaded into a van and taken to the 35th District nearby. Police say one was identified as the gunman.
The names of the suspects have not been released, and so far no word on charges.
A day care worker tells Action News that they actually train for situations like this. They say while a few of the kids were a little shaken up, they're thankful everyone was OK.
