TACONY (WPVI) -- A 3-year-old boy is hospitalized after he was struck by a vehicle in the city's Tacony section.

It happened around 6:10 p.m. Wednesday along the 6300 block of Ditman and Levick streets.

The young victim was taken by ambulance to St. Christopher's Hospital for Children. He is listed in stable condition and is expected to be okay.

Police say the boy was being pushed in a stroller by his father as they were crossing Levick Street when a van making a turn allegedly clipped the stroller, causing the boy to tumble out and onto the ground.

Police say the van paused and then took off.

A witness followed the van, but lost sight of it at Frankford Avenue and Gilham Street.

The striking vehicle is described as a 1998 dark green Dodge conversion van with a lighter green stripe on the side.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police.
