VIDEO: Girl pulled from Del. pond dies
A four-year-old girl who was pulled from a pond in Newark, Delaware Saturday has died.

NEWARK, Del. (WPVI) -- Family and friends will gather in Newark, Delaware Monday to remember a young girl who drowned over the weekend.

4-year-old Mariah Selby was attending a picnic Saturday night at the George Wilson Community Center on the 300 block of New London Road when she apparently wandered away.

"When we arrived, there were several people from the party who were at this retention pond near the property and were looking for the girl in the water," Newark Police Lieutenant Bill Hargrove told Action News. "She was found fairly quickly and removed from the water."

Firefighters performed CPR after they pulled the girl from the pond.

Medics rushed her to Christiana Hospital, where she later died.

Family members tell Action News they have organized a vigil/memorial for Selby, to be held Monday night at 6:00 p.m. at the George Wilson Community Center.
