MILL CREEK, Del. (WPVI) -- 60 vehicles were damaged after an acid attack at a Delaware car dealership.

The owners of Sheridan Ford on Kirkwood Highway in Mill Creek say they couldn't even begin to imagine who would do such a thing.

"Obviously, it seems it was fairly personable, but trying to get into the logic why somebody would do that, I'm not really able to do that," Chip Sheridan said.

The incident happened sometime over the weekend.

Police say someone poured a form of acid on approximately 60 vehicles on the lot. Many of those vehicles are brand-new.

Early estimates have damage totals hovering in the $100,000 range.

"There are just so many cars, you have to do a lot of paint work and it's just not the hoods, it's the quarter panels on the new cars, a lot of lift gates," Tim Sheridan said.

The good news is that the Sheridan Ford property is equipped with several surveillance cameras so investigators are confident that there is video of the crime being committed.

"We are going through that. The area is covered, it's just a question of figuring out when between Saturday night and this morning when it happened. Once we figure that out, we'll work our way back with the surveillance," Chip Sheridan said

Meantime, the Sheridan family is personally posting a $5,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person, or people, responsible.

"We are taking this very seriously. I know for my family it's been very upsetting, for the employees, so we're just looking to get this rectified and move on," Chip Sheridan said
