NEW CASTLE (WPVI) -- A family whose bicycle was stolen this week received an act of kindness in the form of a new one thanks to an Action News viewer.

John Cherico, a complete stranger, heard about Doug St. Amand and his family's situation and wanted to help.

St. Amand said he used the stolen bicycle to go on rides with his 5-year-old daughter Ember and 1-year-old son Declan, who has Down Syndrome.

The whole family drove from New Castle, Delaware, to Palmyra, New Jersey, on Sunday to retrieve their new bike.

"I figured, well, if I'm not gonna ride it then give it to somebody who can use it, and obviously he needed it more than I did," said Cherico. "One day someone will do for me, but in the mean time I can do for them."

"It's nice to see there's still actually good people out there," said St. Amand.

The family said all that's left to do is replace the child seat, and they are overwhelmed by the outpouring of kindness and support since the story went public.
