VIDEO: Abducted girl found safe, father arrested
A man who is accused of snatching his toddler from her home in the Bronx is behind bars.

Authorities say a 3-year-old girl is safe and her father is in custody after an alleged abduction that prompted an Amber Alert Tuesday afternoon.

3-year-old Rebecca Valenzuela was taken by her father, 47-year-old Diomedes Valenzuela, after a violent incident in New York City, police said.

According to our sister station WABC, the attack happened in an apartment building on Perry Avenue in the Bedford Park section of the Bronx just before 1:50 p.m.

During the attack Diomedes Valenzuela allegedly stabbed the girl's 31-year-old mother, who is now hospitalized in critical condition.

Police say Valenzuela then grabbed the girl and took off.

Detectives released details about Valenzula's vehicle, a 2004 Silver Dodge Caravan, and said it had last been seen on the George Washington Bridge heading into New Jersey.

Around 5 p.m. Valenzuela's vehicle was stopped by New Jersey State Troopers on the Garden State Parkway in Clifton, and he was taken into custody.

State police say Rebecca Valenzuela was found safe.
